Title Statement
Influence of main crop row-spacing and population density of the intercrop on the yield of tobacco and watermelon
General Note
Batac, Ilocos Norte: PTRTC, var. p. -(Study 4)
Summary, Etc.
The influence of double row distance of the main crop on the yield of tobacco and watermelon and the influence of different population densities of watermelon on the tobacco yield were determined. Tobacco at a double row distance of 80 cm with watermelon intercrop of three plants per two linear meters had the highest monthly rate of growth (32.8 cm) and the most leaves per plant (32.5). The heaviest fresh leaf weight per plant (777.8 g) was obtained from double row distance of 100 cm and a population density of two watermelon plants per two linear meters. Neither the double row distance of tobacco nor the population densities of watermelon significantly affected the yield of tobacco plant. Tobacco at a double row distance of 100 cm with a watermelon intercrop of three plants per two linear meters produced the highest yield of 1,769.2 kg/ha for a gross return of P5,775
