Title Statement
Interaction of beating time and wet-strength types as related to paper quality
General Note
College, Laguna: FORI, 1985. 12p. -(UPLB-PCARRD Proj. No. 4603-78-01.01.007)
Summary, Etc.
Pulps from Anthocephalus chinensis (kaatoan bangkal), Albizia falcataria (mollucan sau), Gmelina arborea (yemane), and Endospermum peltatum (gubas) were studied to determine the effects of beating time and wet-strength types on paper quality. Among the samples studied, pulps from kaatoan bangkal and bagras were the easiest and the most difficult to beat, respectively. Wet-strength compounds (rosin and hercon-40) improved the physical properties of paper. The increasing concentration of the compound from 0.5 to 1.5% improved the paper's water resistance in terms of Cobb test. Hercon-40 was the most effective wet strength compound, followed by rosin. Kyeme was the least effective
