Title Statement
Integrated control of potato late blight with emphasis on chemical application
General Note
College, Laguna: UPLB, 1982. -(PCARRD Proj. No. 841; Study 2)
Summary, Etc.
Chemical and biological control against late blight were tested. Fungicides used to control the disease were Daconil, Delsene MX, Dithane M-45 (Mancozeb), Galben, Mancozeb + Galben, Curzate M, Manzate 200, and Previcur N. In vitro assay showed that the growth response of P. infestans to different concentrations of the chemicals in oat meal agar after five days had the greatest degree of inhibitions with Delsene MX, Galben and Manzate 200 at 300 ppm. In vivo assay in Sariaya, Quezon showed that among the chemicals applied at manufacturer's recommended rates at two week intervals, Daconil and Galben gave the best results for the eradicative treatment. As protectant, Dithane M-45 and Galben gave the best results. In Benguet trial, all the test fungicides significantly reduced the late blight incidence. Galben, Dithane M-45, Delsene MX and Daconil gave the best results with very low scores of late blight incidence in the protective test. All the test fungicides likewise conferred good eradication against the pathogen with Mancozeb or Dithane M-45 plus Galben giving best results. The yield of the treated plants were significantly different compared with the control. Using biological control, growth rate of Trichoderma sp. was much faster than that of P. infestans after three days. P. infestans was totally outgrown by Trichoderma sp. after five days. However, antibiosis and lysis were not clearly observed
