Title Statement
Culture of tilapia with common carp and dalag
General Note
Munoz, Nueva Ecija: FAC, CLSU, 1983. pp. 18-21. -(Proj. No. 3140; Study 5)
Summary, Etc.
The production of Tilapia nilotica in combination with other species without supplemental feeding under fishfarm conditions was studied for 120 culture days in Isabela, Tarlac, and Nueva Vizcaya. Tilapia nilotica fingerlings with mean weights ranging from 5 to 9 g were stocked at 10,000/ha, common carp were stocked at 1,000/ha, and dalag were also stocked at 200/ha except in Isabela. Percentage recovery was highest in Isabela (410 kg/ha) followed by Tarlac (83.25 kg/ha) and Nueva Vizcaya (30.75 kg/ha). Poor production in Tarlac and Nueva Vizcaya was attributed to the presence of aquatic weeds such as Ipomea aquatica and Hydrilla, that used up the nutrients in the pond. Daily weight increment ranged from 0.65 to 0.36 g for tilapia, 1.8 to 0.49 g for carp, and 4.26 to 0.51 for dalag. Recovery for carp ranged from 75 to 25%
