Summary, Etc.Three production systems (cotton monoculture, garlic monoculture and garlic/cotton relay planting) were evaluated in Lang-ayan, Currimao, Ilocos Norte from November 1987 to April 1988 to verify the productivity of garlic and cotton relay planting. Relaying cotton to garlic 35 days after planting garlic did not significantly affect garlic yield, cotton boll production, and boll weight. Garlic and cotton relay planting was more profitable than cotton or garlic monoculture. Garlic and cotton relay planting incurred the highest production expense, however, this was compensated by higher net farm income, benefit cost ratio, and ROI.
