Summary, Etc.Twenty-eight rubber extension men from major rubber-growing areas of Mindanao were interviewed to draw a comprehensive picture of their training and communication needs. Majority of the extension workers were graduates of bachelor's degree in agriculture and with the government service for five years on the average. They listened to any agricultural radio program and availed of very scarce pamphlets and bulletins for information because of their assignment to variety of crops in addition to rubber. Their main source of information on rubber, though, were training and seminars which did not come often. Lack of updated knowledge on recent trends in rubber technology hampered extension work. Aside from scarce information materials, the extension men were rarely seen by their clientele. The regular farmer visit they made catered only to a small number of their clientele. The topics of interest to them for future rubber training programs are: clonal identification, introduction to high yielding clones, crop protection, pest and disease management, tapping systems management, nursery establishment and management, raw rubber processing, asexual propagation, soil and climatic requirements and cultural practices
