Title StatementCropping pattern testing in Ocampo, Camarines Sur, crop year 1978-1980
General NotePili, Camarines Sur: BRBDP, 1981. pp. 77-117. -(Study III)
Summary, Etc.The economics of raising three crops from the traditional two crops of field corn were evaluated in Ocampo, Camarines Sur. Two sets of trials, the researcher and farmer managed were used for the following cropping patterns: field corn-mungbean-soybean, mungbean-soybean-green corn, mungbean-bush sitao-green corn, and field corn-mungbean-watermelon. The researcher-managed cropping patterns were more profitable than the farmer-managed except in the field corn-mungbean-soybean pattern. Mungbean-soybean-green corn gave a relatively high percentage of profitability (97.19%), followed by mungbean-bush sitao-green corn (95.05%), and field corn-mungbean-watermelon (73.9 %). Field corn-mungbean-soybean gave only 3.37% profitability. Under old Moriones conditions, the yield performance of different upland cultivars (mungbean, bush sitao and watermelon) was acceptable. Field trials of the introduced cropping patterns should be continued for another two years for a more conclusive result. Crops raised should have a ready market to guard against low price and shortage
