General Note
College, Laguna: Forest Products Research and Development Institute, 1990. 26 p
Summary, Etc.
Stained bamboo specimens were bleached with formulated sodium hypochlorite and hydrogen peroxide solutions, and with commercial wood bleach. Results were compared in terms of relative whiteness, freedom from stain and adhesion property. The materials used were scraped and unscraped samples of kauayan tinik (Bambusa blumeana Schultes f.) and bayog (Dendrocalamus merrillianus(Elm) Elm). Of the three bleaching solutions, sodium hypochlorite gave the best results. The best performance of sodium hypochlorite was at 7.0%
