Title Statement
Suitability of fast growing wood species for the production of dissolving pulp as base of cellulose derivatives
General Note
College, Laguna: FPRDI, 1983. 24p
Summary, Etc.
Logs of three fast-growing tree species namely, kaatoan bangkal, yemane and moluccan sau were pulped individually by the prehydrolysis kraft process. Raw pulp obtained ranged from 32.5-42.9% for kaatoan bangkal, 26.4-49.97% for yemane, and 37.6-47.7% for moluccan sau. Low permanganate number of 14.07-22.3 for kaatoan bangkal, 10.22- 22.8 for yemane and 15.95-24.8 for muluccan sau indicated that all species could be easily bleached. The use of hypochlorite increased the brightness but lowered the viscosity and led to higher pulp loss
