Title StatementThe economics of producing hogs fed two energy levels and raised to five slaughter weight
General NoteCollege, Laguna: UPLB, 1975. 16p. -(PCARR Proj. No. 128; Study VIII)
Summary, Etc.Sixty commercial crossbred weanling pigs were used to determine the profitability of raising hogs to five different slaughter weights using two energy levels. Results revealed that it is not profitable to raise hogs up to 50 kg slaughter weight using either low or high energy feeds. For maximum profit, low energy-fed hogs should be raised up to 90 kg only. It was also observed that using low energy feeds in raising pigs to 90 kg was more profitable than using high energy rations. Raising hogs beyond 90 kg liveweight may be economically feasible using high energy rations provided that the finished hogs be sold at prices as high as those offered for the 90 kg pigs
