Summary, Etc.This study attempts to develop an analog technique of forecasting the movement of tropical cyclones in the Philippines. Basic features of Hurran and Tyfoon-72 are adopted in this scheme. Using 91-year data of tropical cyclones in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), storms which exhibit similar characteristics and period of occurrence as the current tropical cyclone are considered as analog cyclones. These are displaced to a common origin, adjusted and fitted to a bivariate normal distribution. The centroid of the normal distribution is the forecast position with additional information given by the probability ellipses computed. These essential features of analog method are discusses in this paper. An evaluation of the method is presented and discussed
