Title Statement
Initial socio-economic benefits derived from KKK-assisted project in Region XII
General Note
Kabacan, North Cotabato: USM, 1982. 18p
Summary, Etc.
The initial benefits of KKK-assisted projects were assessed through an interview with 48 beneficiaries. Ninety percent of the respondents admitted that they enjoyed certain benefits. Of this number, 71% reported both financial and social benefits. However, since the study was conducted after only a few months of project operations, no profit was accrued to the beneficiaries. There was a two percent increase in the use of production inputs such as fertilizers, farm chemicals and veterinary products after the KKK projects started operation. There was also an increase in family labor utilization. The KKK projec had induced the beneficiaries to learn new skills and avail of information from radio, print media and technicians. Technicians of the Ministry of Human Settlements and Ministry of Agriculture visited more often KKK projects than those of other government agencies. There was also an increase in the level of technology adoption from low to high level. KKK projects afforded the beneficiaries to develop their leadership abilities, acquire greater access to government officials and self employment for family members. Sending their children to college was the common aspiration of the respondents. Others aspired to expand their present project or to buy land
