Summary, Etc.A compilation of published references on genetic resources and breeding of the five fruit species under study was made. Works on fruit collections and evaluations were started to serve as benchmark materials. Fruits and scion materials from various fruit growing areas were collected for propagation and analysis. A bibliography on genetic resources and breeding of the five fruit species was prepared. It consisted of 41 general references, 22 each on durian and lanzones, 158 on mango, 28 on mangosteen and 20 on rambutan. Previous fruit collections and evaluations were summarized. The fruit collections consisted of 290 mango accessions, 6 of other Mangifera species, 26 of rambutan, 19 of durian, 35 of lanzones and 3 of mangosteen. The new (1980-81) fruit collection consisted of 142 accessions of mango, 70 of rambutan, 85 of durian, 3 of other Mangifera species, 2 Nephelium species and 6 Garcinia species. Of these new collections, 79 mango, 34 durian, and 4 rambutan were collected from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. Evaluation works previously done covered 62 accessions of mango, 3 of other Mangifera species, 46 of rambutan, 2 of other Nephelium species, 5 of durian, 71 of lanzones and 2 mangosteen. The new evaluations (1980-81) covered 34 accessions of mango, 57 of rambutan, 32 of durian, 1 of Nephelium species and 1 of Garcinia species. Proximate analyses were done on peel, seed and aril of 4 accessions of rambutan, 2 of durian and 1 of lanzones. Leaf measurements were low on 20 accessions of mango, 4 of rambutan and 2 of durian
