Title Statement
A study of flour in coconut
Physical Description
(CL-I-T-06)
Summary, Etc.
The primary objectives of this experiment are to study the possibility of producing flour by utilizing cocomeat and to compare the various results of cocoflour with those of wheat flour.
The cocomeat was shredded from an electric shredder. As a result there were small particles of fibers obtained, because while the cocomeat was being shredded some parts were scrapped from the shell.
After the meat extraction, the cocomeat was immediately placed in a large evaporating dish and was saturated with 80ml ether. The ether was decanted and this procedure was repeated three times to remove the oil.
The final step was accomplished by drying the cocomeat in the oven at 60 degrees centigrade for one hour. the appearance of the cocoflour after drying it in the oven was still white. The shreds were small and the texture was coarse. The taste of the cocoflour was flat. The cocoflour obtained was 13.05 grams or approximately 26.1%. The amount lose was 5.7%.
Therefore there exist the possibility of cocoflour as a good substitute for wheat flour through continuous experimentation and researches of cocoflour
