Summary, Etc.
Ceramic Plaster was produced out of crude synthetic gypsum (a by-product in the manufacturer or phosphoric acid) which was treated with 8% concentrated sulfuric acid (based on the day weight sample). Three percent pure calcium sulfate hemihydrate was added as a starter and the acidified slurry was added as a starter and the acidified slurry was subjected to a pressure of 16.25 psi in an autoclave for 2 hours. The steam treated slurry was allowed to cool washed until acid free, then dried at 105 degree-130 degree celsius for 12 hours or at 160-200 degree celsius for 3 hours. The dried product was then pulverized to 200 mesh and tested. The physical properties of the final product such as color, normal consistency, setting time and water of absorption were found to be comparable to the properties exhibited by the commercially plaster
