Summary, Etc.This book is designed for use in introductory structural geology courses in which the emphasis is placed on basic principles. Brief treatments of selected aspects of regional structural geology, structure of ocean basins, the earth's interior, and tectonics are included to broaden the student's conception of the importance, application, and relation of structural principles to other aspects of earth science. Student using this book should be familiar with the principles of physical and historical geology, and they should have a working knowledge of algebra and plane geometry. Each topic is developed from elementary concepts, and particular care has been taken where mathematical concepts are involved. A broad-ranging coverage of all aspects of structural geology - principles, regional structure, and tectonics - has been selected in preference to great depth of treatment. Selected techniques of structural analysis are briefly described in appendixes, and a set of problems is included to illustrate the application of the methods
