General NoteBatac, Ilocos Norte: PTRTC, 1985. 25p
Summary, Etc.Different insecticides against the major insect pests of flue-cured tobacco were evaluated in four locations in Region I namely: Batac, Ilocos Norte; Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur; Pidigan, Abra; and Balaoan, La Union for the cropping season 1984-1985. In all locations, budworms, Helicoverpa armigera Hubn and H. assulta Guenee were effectively controlled by deltamethrin and endosulfan (Decisdan, 1.0 li/ha) and deltamethrin and dimethoate (Decis-D, 0.75 li/ha). Cutworm Spodoptera litura (Fabr.) was not affected by insecticide treatment in Batac, Pidigan and Sta. Maria except in Balaoan. Tree cricket Oecanthus indicus (Saussure) and tobacco bug Cyrtopeltis tenuis (Reuter) were significantly reduced in all locations by all test insecticides. Damage assessment at 50 days after transplanting (DAT) showed that deltamethrin and endosulfan and fastac gave the least damage rating. All insecticides were effective in controlling the major tobacco insect pests in Region I
