Title Statement
An open comparative cross-over study of the combination of clonidine and chlorthalidone (comipres) to determine the efficacy and tolerance as an antihypertensive agent
Physical Description
88-91
Summary, Etc.
Forty hypertensive patients were given Clonidine-Chlorthalidone for the control of their high blood pressure for a period of four weeks. a wash-off period of at least one week was allowed prior to the drug trial. Statistical analysis of the subsequent blood pressure readings showed that the drug combination, given at twice daily regimen, was effective in lowering both the systolic and diastolic blood pressure even at the start of the study. It was further shown that adequate control of the blood pressure was maintained at a reduced drug schedule of once a day. Minimal side effects consisting of dry mouth, fatigue, nausea, constipation, headaches and dizziness were reported by some of these patients. There was an observed disappearance of said symptoms when the dosage of the medication was reduced. a once-a-day drug schedule has provided significant advantage, since patients compliance became easier to attain
