Chicken is a species of domestic fowl, probably the most common bird in the world. It is raised for meat, eggs and by products such as feathers for sport as an ornamental and as a hobby. (Academic America Encyclopedia) Due to the high yielding ability, wide ecological adaptability and low input requirements, used coconut meat as supplementary feed, have a great potential the high cost of feeds. Also 70% of the cost of poultry and hog production depends on feeds hence, the supply of this commodity is very critical in production cost. (Technology Journal, January to December 1986) To solve this problem of poultry raisers since used coconut meat be a good supplementary feeds expenses can be minimize. Because used coconut meat have nutrient composition that contains protein, sugar, vitamin and minerals particularly calcium, phosphorous and potassium. (Encyclopedia Americana vol. 5)
