$aThis book covers the causes of air pollutants, their dispersion and transformation in the atmosphere, their effects on humans, animals, plants and materials as well as emission reduction technologies. Measuring technology is a focal point as it plays a key role, be it in the detection of air pollutants or in the controlling and monitoring of measures for emission reduction. The book starts out with a historical overview and concludes with regulations on air quality control. Current problems such as SO2, long-range transport, behavior of tropospheric ozone, recent forest damage, motor vehicle exhaust gases, polychlorinated dioxins and furans and reduction technologies are dealt with on the basis of my own research experience.
