General NoteCollege, Laguna: UPLB, 1982. 233p. -PCARD Proj. No. 2201-82-00-05-000)
Summary, Etc.Four hundred fifty carabao raisers from Oriental Mindoro, Quezon, Camarines Sur and Albay were interviewed to; (1) determine the degree of decision-making and work involvement among household members, (2) construct the household profile of carabao raisers and (3) determine the extent in which community services and resources in animal production are utilized. Carabao raisers were mostly crop farmers and owner-operators with an average age of 47 years. They finished six years of formal schooling and headed families of six members each on the average. One child in each family was involved in carabao raising, assisting the household head who performed management practices such as giving water, herding, wallowing, registering/making identification marks, shearing hoofs, training, and vaccinating. Most respondents availed themselves of the services of local leaders. They rarely depended on the services of technicians, input dealers and mass media
