Summary, Etc.Tobacco seedlings (cv. White Burley) at five-leaf stage were inoculated by rubbing method using antioxidants or buffers. Severity of disease incidence and incubation period were noted at one and two weeks after inoculation. Highest infection (100%) was obtained for seedlings inoculated with the virus diluted in 0.1 m borate buffer pH 7-9 or citrate pH 7 added with ascorbic acid (1%) and shortest incubation period (one week). However, highest disease incidence was also obtained for a longer period of incubation (two weeks) when Tris buffer pH 7 alone, Tris pH 7-9 added with mercaptoethanol, or Tris pH 9 added with ascorbic acid were used
