Summary, Etc.A total of 130 banana cultivars were maintained in vitro using the shoot proliferation technique. Shoots of each accession of the germplasm collection were inoculated in a culture medium (GM25) and Sa2 and Sa0 media for genotypic and subculture responses. Majority of the cultivars within each genotype showed a decrease in growth when subjected to a second type in slow growth medium. This means that shoot cultures cannot be exposed to continuous stress associated with Mannitol (GM25) supplemented medium. The residual effect of the slow growth media had been reduced with subculturing. The stress imposed by Sa2 and Sa0 media had no detrimental effect in the subsequent growth in culture. Rooted and uprooted Lakatan plantlets were evaluated as material for shipping. After one week of storage, established (rooted) plantlets appeared healthier than the uprooted ones. When potted out for two weeks, uprooted plants had 52.41% survival and recovery. The established plants had an average of 89.8% survival
