The zinc-chloride activated carbon from coconut husk gave higher iodine values. However, the iodine adsorptivities of the steam activated carbon were comparable with that of commercial active and discolorizing carbon. The pH of the water treated with the zinc-chloride activated and steam activated coconut husk charcoals compared favorably with that of distilled water
