Summary, Etc.Some 214 respondents from Zamboanga del Sur, Cotabato, Bukidnon, Basilan, Zamboanga del Norte and Agusan del Sur were interviewed to determine their communication and training needs. The average rubber farmer was 49 years old, a married Catholic, had six household members, spoke Cebuano and lived in his own house and lot for 3.2 years. Radio was his primary communication medium. Fellow farmers were also sources of technology. Neither exposed to recent rubber technologies nor visited by technicians, he expressed the need and preference for trainings and print materials for technology dissemination. Training needs were those on control of pests and diseases, marketing, intercropping, tapping and bark management. Absence of rubber technicians, peace and order, lack of capital and distance of farm were among the problems encountered in information dissemination
