$aThe study aimed to develop appropriate handipacks or consumer packagesand shipping containers for mangoes. The materials used were corrugated fiberboard of 200 Burst strength, C. flute for consumer package/handipacks, and slatted bamboo for shipping containers. Each carton of handipack could accommodate 6, 8, 9 and 12 pieces of mangoes and was provided with separators to ensure protection of fruits against bruises.Tensile strength of the handle averaged to 30.85 kg. Results showed that the handipacks and shipping containers were comparable to the traditional containers. These were reusable and could be easily assembled or disassembled. The handipacks and shipping containers could fully protect mangoes from bruises and damage during transport.
