This study was undertaken to determine whether C-reactive protein (CRP) can be used as a parameter in identifying the time point when antibiotic treatment can safely be discontinued in a defined major groups of neonates treated for suspected bacterial infection. This was a quasi-experimental study with three treatment arms. All neonates with suspected bacterial infection enrolled in this study were first tested for CRP.
