Title StatementKraft pulping studies on long-fibered hardwood
General NoteCollege, Laguna: FORI, 1984. 9p
Summary, Etc.Three long-fibered hardwood species namely: Mastixia philippinensis Wang (apanit), Alangium meyeri Merr. (putian) and Salmalia malabarica (DC) Schott and Endl. (malabulak) were studied for pulp suitability by the kraft pulping process. Malabulak was a promising raw material for pulp and paper manufacture. It had the shortest fiber among the three species. Its cell walls were thinner than those of apanit and putian. These characteristics were possible blends for short-fibered pulps. The kraft pulp yields of the three species were within the range for hardwood and close to the indigenous long-fibered pine species
