Title StatementSpecies association, growth and regeneration by area stratification of the Mangrove experimental forest at Pagbilao, Quezon
General NotePagbilao, Quezon: FORI-MFRC, 1983. 19P
Summary, Etc.More species association was observed in strata seldom reached by saline or brackishwater. Bruguiera cylindrica - Excoecaria agalocha were the highly associated species followed by Lumitzera littorea-Ceriops decandra, Avicennia - sonneratia caseolaris, Glochidium littoralis - Acasia farnesiana and Scyphiphora hydrophyllaceae - Avicennia officinalis associations. The optimum level of species association which highly affected both the diameter and height growth of species was observed in Bruguiera cylindrica - Ceriops decandra, Excoercaria agallocha, Erythrina orientalis, Glochidium littoralis, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Intsia retusa, Pongamia pennata, Scyphiphora hydrophyllaceae and Thespania populnea associations. Regeneration of some species was highly affected by the presence of other species. Soil pH value varied from site to site and affected both the diameter and height growth of some mangrove species associations
