$aThe study was conducted to verify and provide a comprehensive guide of existing erosion control and management strategies as practiced in watersheds, hilly and unstable uplands, and other areas. This was carried out in three phases namely: establishment of the state-of-the-art (Phase I) that involved exhaustive literature review; establishment of soil and water conservation structures/measures (Phase II); and documentation (Phase III) which described the procedures and other relevant information for each soil conservation structures. The soil conservation measures tested in different sites were: establishment of hedgerows, wattling, making fascines, bench terracing, contour trenching/ditches/canals, and contour levee/barrier. These were established in Regions CAR, II, V, VI, VIII, and X. The efficiency of each structure was evaluated using parameters such as soil fertility changes, rainfall, surface runoff, soil loss, and infiltration. The social acceptance and cost effectiveness of each structure were likewise documented and analyzed. Generally, results of the study varied from region to region.
