Title StatementThe association of plant parasitic nematodes with the citrus decline in the Philippines
General NoteCollege, Laguna: UPLB, 1975. pp. 1-66. -(NSDB-UPLB Proj. No. 2.275-73; Study I)
Summary, Etc.Survey was conducted to determine the occurrence, distribution and population density of the nematodes associated with the citrus decline in the provinces of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Results showed that of the 12 genera of the plant parasitic identified, Tylenchulus semipenetrans was the most abundant and widely distributed throughout the country. It constituted 94% of the total soil samples collected. Helicotylenchus spp. ranked second in distribution which occurred in 48.0% of the soil samples and constituted 2.32% of the nematode population. However, the distribution varies considerably in different regions. In Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Western Mindanao, T. semipenetrans had the highest percentage distribution whereas in the Oriental Mindoro and Eastern Mindanao regions, Helicotylenchus spp. was highest. Percentage distribution of T. semipenetrans was lowest in Eastern Mindanao. Highest population density of T. semipenetrans was obtained when plants were at 11-15-year old
