Title StatementEffect of strand length and resin content on board properties
General NoteCollege, Laguna: Forest Products Research and Development Institute, 1985. 17 p. -(Study 1)
Summary, Etc.The effect of resin content and length of strands on the properties of one-layer strand board were studied by using Yemane (Gmelina arborea) with powdered phenol as adhesive. Strands used were two, four, and six percent. Best results were obtained by using 40 mm long strands bonded with powdered phenol at six percent resin content. Thickness swelling, water absorption, modulus of rupture parallel and perpendicular to the length of the board, and internal bond were significantly affected by the length of strands and variation in resin content
