Summary, Etc.This volume containing the papers presented at the ASEAN-EC Seminar/Workshop on Marine Sciences as well as the report of the meeting with the resulting draft proposal has been made possible through funding from the European Community (EC). The preparation of the proceedings was delayed unduly because of staff movements and the reorganization of the Philippine focal point for science in ASEAN, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). The editors have done their best under the circumstances and apologize for the delays. It is hoped that this small volume will provide a bird's-eye-view of the status of oceanography in Southeast Asia, particularly in ASEAN, as well as indicate the directions and needs for developing physical and chemical oceanography
