Summary, Etc.The seasonal and areal effects of 20 grass species, 4 legume species and 13 other crops on the in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) were evaluated. The modified Tilley and Terry method was adopted. The range in IVDMD values for grasses was from 31.7 percent for Imperata cylindrica (cogon) to 67.46% for Echinochloa crusgalli (daua-daua). Among the legume species, IVDMD values ranged from 43.66% for Centrosema pubescens (centrosema) to 55.32% for Calopogonium mucunoides (calopogonium). For the other crops IVDM values ranged from 33.63% (Cyrtococcum oxyphyllum) to 71.47% (Alternanthera sessilis). Grass and legume species from Camarines Norte had the highest IVDMD values (59.69 and 55.3%, respectively) and lowest in Cavite (38.63 and 35.99%). Among the other crop species, the highest value was from Laguna plants (50.66%) and the lowest from Cavite (40.79%). In all forages evaluated, those from Camarines Norte had the highest (55.5%) IVDMD value while those from Cavite had the lowest (38.94%). The IVDMD values during the wet season were higher for grasses and legumes than during the dry season, but not for the other crops
