Indigenous peanut rhizobia from some Bicol soils with different cropping histories were enumerated, isolated, and characterized based on morphology, cultural characteristics, intrinsic antibiotic resistance and effectiveness. The serological properties of the isolates were compared with the reference strains RP182-13, CB756, 3G4B20, and P3. Tolerance to acidity and competitiveness of selected effective isolates were also Studied. The promising isolates RPG 24, RPG 149; RPG 103, RPG 112, and RPG 211 were as competitive as the reference strains.
