$aBiological studies of red spider mite and its potential predators (Amblyseius longispinosus and A. semiregularis) on two cassava varieties (Hawaiian 5 and MCol 1684) grown by Matling Industrial Commercial Corporation (MICC) were conducted in the laboratory. Mites exhibited shorter development, higher fecundity and survival rate when reared on Hawaiian 5 than on MCol 1684. A. longispinosus also showed faster development and reproduction when fed with mites reared on Hawaiian 5. However, A. semiregularis was not affected by the variety used for rearing mites. For one generation of red spider mite A. longispinosus produced two overlapping generations whereas A. semiregularis produced only one. The reproductive potential of the red spider mite in Hawaiian 5 was three times higher than in MCol 1684. The reproductive potential of A. longispinosus fed with red spider mites from Hawaiian 5 was about 80%
