Title Statement
Planned health program for small ruminant-coconut production system: its effects and modifications: Sustainable ruminant production under coconut plantation
General Note
Los Banos, Laguna: PCARRD, 1994. pp. 89-100. -(PCARRD-IDRC Funded Proj.; Study 2.3)
Summary, Etc.
A planned health program developed from phase I of the SRCSP was implemented on all R and D and KAMTUPA/OTG farms. The small ruminant disease incidence and mortality rates were recorded and compared with the data in Phase I. The five-point health program could not be completely implemented because of certain practical reasons. The health program was therefore modified to suit the animal raisers' needs and to make it more effective. The occurrence of diseases remained sporadic (low numbers) and this limited statistical comparison between the incidence and mortality rates in Phase I and II of the project. It was, however, observed that the incidence and mortality rates were lower in the OTG/KAMTUPA (backyard) farms than in R and D farms where more animals were raised
