Summary, Etc.Over a hundred and thirty participants from thirty-one countries attended the first NaGISA World Congress held in Kobe, Japan from October 15-18, 2006. The symposium was organized in an effort to facilitate the interaction of near shore benthic ecologists and taxonomists, strengthen the connection between NaGISA and complementary projects, and to present research and results from the NaGISA project. The symposium was an overall sucess initiating dialogue not only between regions but also specialities. The highlights of the events was the realization by participants and organizers alike that both the project's scientific goals.
