Title Statement
Vector analysis for meteorologist by C. M. Penner
Physical Description
n. p
Summary, Etc.
The use of vector methods in Meteorology is now so common that Meteorologists requires a familiarity with the language of vector analysis in order to read theoretical papers in meteorological journal. Vector methods result in an economy of representation and a simplicity of the equations which facilitate the understanding of the underlying physical principles. This economy and simplicity far outweight the disadvantage of having to learn the language of vector algebra. This course is designed to relate vector methods to the equations of dynamic meteorology. The source is divided into fifteen chapters with a problem assignment on each chapter. The outline notes are not intended to be complete but only to provide broad guidelines for study and to indicate meteorological applications where possible. The material presented will need to be supplemented by study from a standard textbook on the subject
