Title Statement
A sociological study on the economic and non-economic burdens of the recipients of the certificate of land transfer
General Note
College, Laguna: UPLB, 1977. 117p. -(PCARR Proj. No. 307)
Summary, Etc.
Five percent of the total population of Certificate of Land Transfer (CLT) recipients covered by Operation Land Transfer (OLT) throughout the country in 1977 were chosen at random and classified into amortizing owners, about-to-amortize owners and nonamortizing owners. Results showed that recipients were burdened by land amortization, Samahang Nayon fees, tax, farm costs and finances brought about by OLT, and other financial obligations that they have to shoulder even before receiving the CLT. Their noneconomic difficulties include relationship with the landlord, internal pressure to maintain ownership, dealings with the government representatives, and risks in farm decision making. The beneficiaries' appraisal and judgment of their new status revealed that deemed ownership made them more concerned in the farm and gradually elevated their status in the community. Greater concern in the farm was indicated by their interest in farm work as well as the investment/improvement they made. The social status of amortizing-owners was gradually elevated as indicated by their position in a five-step self anchoring ladder. Their perceived social status at present is higher than that when they were still tenants
