Title StatementA study on the knowledge, attitudes, practices and behavior towards HIV/AIDS and sexual health practices among Filipino youth
Summary, Etc.The survey of youth and health workers shows interesting findings, not only with respect to their knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and practices on HIV/AIDS and sexual health, but also on the gaps that exist between them. For both young people and health workers awareness of HIV/AIDS is high. Similarly, the youth survey also found that there is greater confidence among young women to negotiate for condom use and decide on the timing and choice of their sexual partner, as well as discussing sexual issues with health service providers. This is a good indication that young people, especially the girls, are becoming aware of their rights to information on sex-related issues. Providing adolescent reproductive health services for the youth should be one of the main priorities of the government.
