Title Statement
Integrated weed control strategies on corn, mungbean and rice-based wheat (Triticum aestivum Linn.)
General Note
Munoz, Nueva Ecija: CLSU, 1984. 13p
Summary, Etc.
Three experiments were conducted to determine the effect of integrating chemical (Ronstar and/or Machete EC), mechanical (wheel hoeing), and cultural control (water management) of weeds in wheat. Fertilizer (80-40-40 kg NPK/ha) and insecticides (Azodrin 168 EC and Furadan 36) were also applied in plots that were corn, mungbean, and rice-based. In sites previously planted to corn, wheat plants produced more productive tillers per linear meter when first irrigation was done before the last harrowing. Average number of grains per plant increased when weeds were removed at two and four weeks after crop emergence (WAE). Ronstar EC herbicide application must also be made preemergent at 0.75kg ai/ha. For wheat in areas previously planted to mungbean, two weedings at two and four WAE resulted in more productive tillers than those weeded once, regardless of the time of first irrigation. Also, two weeding significantly reduced weed population thereby producing higher grain yield. In rice-based site, all herbicide treatments and combination treatments were efffective in controlling weeds and increasing wheat grain yield. Ronstar application followed by two weedings and three and four WAE produced the highest grain yield, 0.583 t higher than the unweeded control and 0.169 t higher than the weeded check
