Summary, Etc.Shipping containers with net capacities of 20 kg each were fabricated to develop suitable, efficient and economical storing and transporting vessels for selected leaf vegetables. Collapsible veneer and bamboo containers as well as fix-assembled veneer containers were subjected to two field service performance tests using Chinese pechay as test vegetables. Veneer and bamboo crates lined with paper reduced the quantity of leaf vegetable transport damage from 26.2% (control) to 14.55 and 15.0%, respectively. Keeping quality and shelf-life at 10 and 0 deg C showed no significant difference after 46 days of storage. Likewise, no significant effects of fabrication materials on the vegetables were observed
