$aAbout 159 single eye clones sugarcane (1972 series) were tested for resistance or susceptibility to culmiculous smut (Ustilago scitaminea) using paste method of inoculation. Two standard susceptible and two standard resistant varieties were used as check plants. Percent infection was observed following the International Rating Scale. Out of the 159 promising clones, 41 were resistant, 40 moderate and 48 susceptible to smut.
