Title StatementField screening for adaptability to post-rice conditions
General NoteCollege, Laguna: UPLB, 1987. pp. 43-68. -(UPLB-PCARRD-INSORMIL Funded; Study 2)
Summary, Etc.The initial year of study showed sorghum plants at IRRI as more vigorous and greener than those at IBP, College, Laguna and PSU, Pangasinan. The highest potential yield obtained was about 2.90 t/ha at IRRI. Entries giving relatively higher yield in the said location were BTX 623, BTX 622, CS 405, CS 503 and CS 410. Those at IBP were CS 498, and CS 402 while at PSU, CS 385, CS 282, CS 398, CS 453 and CS 498 were the entries that gave the highest yield. Under water logged and a favorable post-rice condition, UPL Sg-5, CS 333, CS 483 and CS 385 flowered early. Considering as high yielder under postrice condition with an average yield of 1.33 t/ha. CS 385, another potential entry, exhibited a good performance in the 1985 screening and yielded an average of 1.92 t/ha. The check variety, UPL Sg-5 gave an average yield of 1.17 t/ha. In the identification of sorghum cultivars with drought resistance using the line source irrigation system, DJA 1231-1 entry was found promising. This entry apparently had very good ability to recover upon relief of drought stress while it was able to maintain relatively lower leaf temperature
