Title Statement
Towards sustainability of integrated small ruminants-coconut production systems: the case of the SRCSP, Philippines
General Note
Los Banos, Laguna: Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and D
Summary, Etc.
The SRCSP is a farming systems research and development (FSRD) activity conducted by a multidisciplinary team of experts from PCARRD, the University of the Philippines Los Banos, and the Bureau of Animal Industry. It aimed to field-test and promote a package of technology on the production of small ruminants (SR) under coconuts. Three sub-projects were undertaken by the SRCSP to realize its long term objective of promoting the technology and working for the sustainability of integrating SRs in coconut farms. These subprojects were the KAMTUPA, the OTG, and the HERD in Sta. Cruz and in Magdalena, Laguna. The study looked into the context whereby the sub-projects came into existence, the inputs into the sub-projects coming from the SRCSP and the community, the processes undertaken to transform the inputs into products hoping that in the future, these could be the variables that could help explain whatever levels of sustainability the SRCSP had achieved in integrating SRs under coconuts
