Summary, Etc.aThis publication features three existing coco-based processing enterprises in the Visayas. The enterprises included were: hat making from coconut leaf sheath, bahalina and charcoal. The cases were assessed using the Rural-based Enterprise Development (RED) approach to identify technological support system constraints, research gaps and potentials for improvement of the coco-based processing enterprise. The analysis showed that the processes involved in the three documented cases are simple and adoptable with no great obstacles. The simplicity of the process in making charcoal from coconut shells can allow many farmers or small enterpreneurs to engage in the enterprise. Bahalina processing and guinit hat making, although not as as popular, are promising enterprises for the local market. Guinit hats are good souvenir items for tourists. Given proper incentives and conditions, these family enterprises can be promoted as viable sources of income.0
