An in vitro system for the cultivation of rabbit urothelial cells is in its initial stage of development. Six rabbits underwent supratrigonal cystectomy. The tissue samples were placed on RMPI 1640 medium on separate containers. Confluent cell monolayers covering the entire base of plastic multiwells were produced in all of the samples. Collagen formation and growth were noted in the urothelial cells. Morphological analysis of all cultures was done by inverted phase contrast microscopy which revealed the urothelial cells growing over the collagen.
