Summary, Etc.This project is composed of two studies. Study 1 identified the demographic characteristics of the hillside and upland marginal root crop growers of Southern Leyte and Eastern Samar. It also decribed their socioeconomic conditions and the farm management and cultural practices they employed. Study 2 discussed the social and economic pressures affecting the root crop growing households and the coping mechanisms they used to confront such pressures. The respondents included ten root crop growing households randomly selected from each of the three barangays of the ten municipalities of Southern Leyte and Eastern Samar.
