Summary, Etc.A study on the vector transmission of papaya ringspot virus (PRV) was conducted from July 1987 to December 1988. The alternate hosts of malady were also determined. Three proved to be the vectors of malady.These were Aphis gossypii Glover (melon aphid), Aphis craccivora Koch(groundnut aphid) and Rhopalosiphum maidis Fitch (corn leaf aphid) with 50, 20 and 6.6% transmission efficiency, respectively. With A. gossypii, the test indicated that the virus is stylet-borne and one single aphid can readily acquire the virus in five seconds and transmit it within 20 seconds. On alternate hosts, transmission test made on selected plant species such as those which belong to families Cucurbitaceae, Leguminaceae and some weeds proved negative. None of the test plants exhibited some traces of virus infection
